other pest2 Other PestsOther pests you may find problematic in your home are considered to be occasional entrance invaders.  These are pests that enter the home from the outside but rarely take up residence and reproduce inside.  That is not to say that occasional entrance invaders cannot represent a significant pest problem for homeowners.  Sometimes pests in this category can enter your home by the hundreds, or even thousands in some cases.  Examples of occasional invaders include:  earwigs, pill bugs, stink bugs, silverfish, centipedes and millipedes.

Still there is another category of pests that can enter and infest your home through stored products you bring in from the grocery store.  These can take up residence and reproduce inside your home.  This category of pests is called stored product pests, or “pantry pests”.  Eggs are usually laid in products like corn meal, flour, rice, etc. while in large bins priory to packaging.  Once packaged and distributed to the stores, you may purchase the infested product and bring it home.  There, in your home, the eggs hatch and leave the product infesting your pantry and other food items in your pantry.   Example of stored product pests include:  Indian meal moths, sawtooth grain beetle, flour beetles, rice weevils and cigarette beetles to name a few.
